Russian Railways sees switch of exports from west to east

MOSCOW, Mar 16 (PRIME) – Rail exports have switched from the west to the east amounting to 2.3 million tonnes since the start of March, Russian Railways said in a statement on its Telegram channel on Wednesday citing CEO Oleg Belozyorov.

"We have already noticed a dramatic redirection of exports from the west to the east. 2.3 million tonnes of cargo have been redirected since the beginning of March," Belozyorov said.

A total of 15 million tonnes of cargo were commissioned to delivery to the Eastern polygon, he added.

Some of cargo consignors stopped shipments to the unfriendly countries, and some railcars were removed from 80 export trains. Russian Railways has abolished a fine for cancellation of shipments to and across Ukraine in order to support its clients, the company said.
